Day 2: Saigon – Cu Chi – Dau Tieng (B)
Transfer Cu Chi to visit the tunnel site. Drive to the Dau Tieng
Base Camp (Camp Rainier), base of many infantry and artillery
battalions since 1966. Drive back and overnight in Saigon.
Day 3: Qui Nhon – An Khe (B)
Depart Saigon with a short flight to Qui Nhon (Vietjet 10:00 -
11:10 am). Transfer by road toward the town of An Khe. Visit the
site of An Khe airfield and Camp Radcliff, the largest helicopter
base in the world at the time of its establishment. En route we
make a stop at the Banh It Tower, a 10th century Hindu temple
of the ethnic Cham. Overnight in Qui Nhon.
Day 4: Qui Nhon – Quang Ngai (B)
Depart Qui Nhon and drive toward Quang Ngai. En route
visit the site of Bong son or LZ English, the airfield that could
accommodate the giant C-130. Visit the site of Duc Pho Base
Old Camp (LZ Montezuma) originally established by the U.S Marine
Corps’ Task Force X-Ray and the 2nd Battalion 5th Marines and
3rd Battalion 7th Marines. Drive pass the site of Sa Huynh Base
originally navy support camp. Overnight in Quang Ngai.
Marines Day 5: Quang Ngai – Hoi An (B/D)
Visit the memorial site of My Lai village in Quang Ngai. Continue
to Van Tuong the site of Operation Starlite on 18 August 1965,
marking first major engagement between US Marines and
Bases important Marines, Navy and Infantry units. Overnight in Hoi An.
NVA regular army. Drive past Chu Lai Base Area home to many
16 days Day 6: Around Hoi An (B/D)
Visit a number of old sites in Que Son and Thang Binh,
including; Firebase Ross or Hill 51; An Hoa Combat Base
important Marines base established in 1966 and home to many
Marines units till 1970; Firebase Nong Son established in 1967
by the 5th Marines to provide security for the nearby Nong Son
coal mine. Overnight in Hoi An.
Tour In Detail Day 7: Around Danang (B/D)
Visit old sites located in the hilly area to the west of Danang,
including Hill 327, Hill 55, Hill 65, Hill 52, Ha Nha Bridge, Thuong
Duc Special Force Camp. Overnight in Danang.
Day 8: Around Danang (B/D)
Day 1: Arrive in Saigon (D) Continue the rediscovery with other old sites. Marble Mountain
Visit the city’s significant landmarks including the Reunification Air Facility (MMAF) an aviation facility used primarily by
Hall, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office, the the United States Marine Corps from 1965 to 1971, home to
Chinatown and Thien Hau Temple. During the day we also visit Marine Aircraft Group 16, the 5th Special Forces Group and an
the War Museum. Overnight in Saigon. assortment of other squadrons. Visit Monkey Mountain Facility
also known as Hill 621 located on the peak of Son Tra Mountain,
home to Marine Light Anti-Aircraft Missile battery (LAAM).
Overnight in Danang.
