Genero Adran League
The new Genero Adran League got underway for the first time on Sunday and the
Premier Division’s first ever leaders are Cardiff City Women, who got off to a strong
start with a 4-0 victory away to Port Talbot Town. The Bluebirds took the lead on the
stroke of half time through Phoebie Poole and after the break, an own goal doubled their
advantage before Zoe Atkins made it three and Poole completed the scoring with her
second late on.
The fastest start was made by Aberystwyth Town as they won 3-1 against
Barry Town Utd. Aber took the lead in the opening minute through Elin Jones and
Amy Jenkins made it two from the penalty spot, midway through the first half. Taite
Trivett pulled one back for Barry early in the second half but Aberystwyth made the game
safe just after the hour when Libby Isaac scored their third goal.
The opening day saw Cardiff Met Women host champions Swansea City in
a live televised clash on S4C and it produced a match as tight as anticipated. Met took a
fourteenth minute lead with a goal from Emily Allen and after the break, Stacey John-
Davis brought Swansea back on level terms. The game remained in the balance until a
minute from time, when Shaunna Jenkins scored to give the Swans a 2-1 victory.
Pontypridd Town were another team to win 2-1 away from home, against The
New Saints. TNS also went ahead after fourteen minutes thanks to Francesca Scott,
with an Alison Witts penalty bringing
