Scadding se les local derby
Tuesday 17th August
Brislington 1 Cadbury Heath 0
ATT 136 Goalscorer Jordan Scadding 50mins
We welcomed Cadbury Heath last night in our 3rd local derby of the season. Over the last
few seasons there hasn’t been a lot between the two sides and this was sure to be a very
similar game. A er Saturdays 3-1 defeat to Bi on Perksy made player and a forma on
changes. Jason Ma hews took over from Callum Heal. Ruben Nuevo-Draper replaced the
injured Harry Tobin, Josh Brace came in for his first start with Lewis Dunn coming in for
Mitch Greenslade in a back 3. The game started at a fran c pace with the away side
star ng on the front foot and pu ng our back 3 under pressure without really causing
Ma hews any problems. It took us a while to get used to the new shape and the visitors
were picking us off in the midfield. Jordan Scadding was again pu ng in a hard working
performance on the le and was finding some space to start causing the away defence
some problems. On 12mins a Prangley corner eventually found Scadds whose strike from
20yds pinged off the crossbar, The ball fell to Ryan Bath whose strike was blocked / saved.
We were now finding a bit more joy against the hard working Cadbury Heath. George
Jones had two reasonable chances but snatched at both of them when he could have done
be er. Our injury jinx then struck again on 35mins when Nuevo - Draper was forced of
with a knee injury having to be replaced by Barwood. With 10mins to go it le us a bit
disjointed and we were s ll struggling to get to grips in the middle of the park. The visitors
were s ll working hard and not le ng us se le to be able to slow the fran c pace of the
game down. HT 0-0 Perksy reverted to a 4-4-2 at half me with Mitch Greenslade going
in at right back for Keiron Proctor. We knew we had to start working harder if we were to
win the game. We started well in the 2nd half and on 50mins a Prangley through ball found
Scadds who done well and chipped the ball over the keeper to make it 1-0. For 10mins we
looked like we would increase our lead. Bathy was working hard up top but we couldnt
feed of him to create clear chances. The nearest we came was from a Prangley corner
when Barwoods header was cleared of the line. On 66mins Edmondson replaced Brace
who was cramping up. Edmondson showed again he can be a problem to ring defences
with one surging run shortly a er coming on. The away side were star ng to push us deep
again and with Dunn struggling but no subs le he went up front with Scadds going to le
back for the last 15mins. Edmondson had a good chance to make the game safe a er good
work on the right he got his shot off which the keeper done well to p round the post. On
80mins while going for the ball in the away teams box Asa White received a nasty gash to
the forehead. Physio Kev Hazell managed to patch him up to get him through the last
10mins. Even with the injury he was s ll able to win some crucial headers as the away side
pressed for an equaliser. White went to hospital and had 6 s tches in the wound a er the
game. FT 1-0 We managed to see out the game for a much needed win & our first clean
sheet of the season in what was fran c local derby played in front of another decent
crowd. Next up is Saltash United at home on Saturday in another tough game and injuries
being a concern ahead of it.
