Certain cordage, such as Spectra or Kevlar, is quite slick and stiff. Consequently, knots have a
difficult time keeping their wraps. The Triple Fisherman's is a relatively new knot designed to keep a
good hold in such cords. It is identical to the Double Fisherman's, except that the ropes are wrapped
               three times around each other.

                Common Use
Joining slick, stiff Spectra and Kevlar cordage

               Figure Eight

The Figure Eight, also known as a Flemish Knot, enjoys the same general use as the Overhandthat of
a stopper knot. Tie it in the end of rappel or belay ropes to prevent tragedy. The Figure Eight is slightly
harder to tie than the Overhand and takes more rope, but it's bulkiera desirable characteristic for a
stopper knotless likely to untie itself, and easier to untie after it has been drawn tight.
