As shown in the graph, there is a steady increase in daily usage of Instagram stories as compared to SnapChat, which allows for greater reach to the company’s follower base. Moreover, the Stories feature is positioned high up in the Instagram platform, thus making it the first thing users check out while on the app. Thus, we suggest GivingPoint considering posting more photographs and promotional materials on Instagram Stories.
Overall, social media seems to have developed innovative ways for businesses to promote their products and, in the case of nonprofits, their mission. Social media accounts, to be successful, need to be active on a daily basis at best, or at least weekly. Finally, we note that GivingPoint is already leveraging from this opportunity and has already created three different social media profiles (Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook), which we believe is great for the company’s marketing strategy, although there can be improvements.
Board of Directors
For any organization, the Board of Directors plays one of the most vital roles. Having an active Board of Directors that are involved in the decision-making process as well as keeping up with the ongoing operations creates a better connection between the board members and the staff. Currently, GivingPoint has eight board members. Considering GivingPoint is small, having only eight board members is not that small. Once GivingPoint grows, increasing the number of the board members will be ideal. While speaking to a couple of members on the Board, it was brought to light that the board is currently funding most of the operations for GivingPoint and being of as much help as they can. Also, while speaking to them, we found that there are no committees on the board; instead, everyone works together to complete the daily functions.
When starting committees in a board, it is crucial to know what type of board will fit best with the organization. One of the most common types of committees that works with a smaller board is the standing committees, which are those committees set in the bylaws and used on a continual basis. Having clearly defined roles on the board helps keep the flow going and makes for a more successful and well-connected board.
