Mobile Phones

• 1st, 2nd or 3rd Years are not permitted to have a mobile phone in school. In the event of a

student found in breach of this rule, the mobile phone (+SIM card) will be confiscated and
may only be reclaimed by a Parent/Guardian after a period of three days.

• In the interests of Health & Safety, prudent use of mobile phones is advised and parents are

requested to support the College in this regard and set reasonable limits on their daughter’s
‘screen time’. Access to the internet should be monitored prudently.

• Phones, devices and the internet are powerful tools but if misused can be extremely

harmful. The effects of negative behaviours can be devastating on affected students. As a
school, we wish to encourage positive communication and engagement in the many sporting
and extra- curricular activities available.

• Mobile phones must never be used to take, obtain or transmit photographic images either in
school or on school-related outings or activities. Because of the potential violation of privacy
involved, this will be viewed as a serious breach of the Code of Behaviour.

• Bullying/harassment of any form using mobile phones will be viewed as a serious breach of
the Code of Behaviour and may necessitate contact with the Gardaí.

• Parents who need to contact students in the event of an emergency may do so by
telephoning Reception at 059-9143660.
