The rural and oenological tourism of Uruguay seeks to position itself as
a key piece to captivate visitors who come to the country for short peri-
ods, such as cruisers, a strategy that appeals to the natural character of
the country and the proximity of rural areas, of great relevance for your
economy.
In this way, visitors who arrive in the main tourist centers of the country,

such as Montevideo, Colonia or Punta del Este, have only a short time,
have a wide range of proposals “handled by their own owners,” he ex-
plained. Efe Alicia Morales, member of the Uruguayan Society of Rural
Tourism (Sutur).
“It is not only the experience of approaching the Uruguayan countryside,
but also the people of the country, the rural family and all their activities,”
said the businesswoman, who insisted that with this type of offer, the
country reinforces its “natural” .
“They are establishments that do
not depend on energies that are not renewable and that are concerned
with the protection of biodiversity. They are really proposals that also
demonstrate that the country is in the way of protection and natural,”
added Morales.
The familiarity of establishments is also a common denominator for pro- Turismo Rural
posals involving wineries, according to Efe Francisco Pizzorno, a member
of the board of the Uruguayan Wine Tourism Association (Atteu).
