Parents from Years 1, 3 and 5 were invited to an
information evening in Term 1 to find out more
about the inquiry approach to Mathematics and
engage in Mathematical tasks. This was well-
attended and positive feedback was received.
Furthermore, parents again showed their
partnership with the school when mathematical
costumes were created for the ‘Dress up Day’
in our ‘7 days of 123s and ABCs’. They were
stunning and we would like to thank all parents
for their continued support. Throughout the ‘7
days’, children participated in a wide range of
Maths activities linked to literature and by the
end of the week, every class had decorated
their door after using a Maths Picture Book as
a focus for their learning.
It is with great excitement that we will continue
to work closely with Peter Sullivan in 2017-18,
ESF will be involved in a second project and
BHS have invited Professor Sullivan into school
to model lessons in classrooms and share
his philosophy with parents at a curriculum
information evening. Beacon Hill continues to
have a clear plan for the development of Maths
and is committed to delivering high quality
experiences for all students.
