Propone una nuova ricerca ispirata dalle pos-
sibilità dei Deep Space Telescopes, realizzata a
quattro mani con il graphic artist Marcelo Vendra-
mel. Una voce di un’intelligenza artificiale, debi-
tamente istruita per risultare naturale nella sua
artificialità, legge la definizione di pixel, sosti-
tuendo la parola con ‘person’. Scorrono immagini
di corpi celesti molto lontani, scaricate diretta-
mente dal satellite Kepler. Il video è ottenuto dal-
la miscellanea di due momenti distinti di elabora-
zione delle immagini. Da un lato fotografie, attinte
dalla restituzione diretta dell’obiettivo satellitare,
scomposte in forma di grandi pixel nei loro colori
e nelle loro componenti tramite un software di ast
ronomia amatoriale, variandone i parametri base
di temperatura di ricerca e orientamento. Dall’al-
tro animazioni che restituiscono il processo di
registrazione delle immagini filtrate dal software.
Entità estetiche effimere spingono lo spettatore a
confrontarsi con una forma di stress dei processi
che istituzionalizzano la nozione sperimentale di
realtà attraverso l’osservabile ed il ripetibile, ov-
vero i cardini del metodo scientifico.
Lo stesso processo di scomposizione per ingran-
dimento è applicato dall’artista all’immagine de-
putata a costruire la sua identità, ottenuta mol-
tiplicando la ripresa di dettagli del suo ritratto
usato come maschera in una cabina per fototes-
sere. Attestazione di cittadinanza, possibilità di
spostamento alla guida, di movimentazione del
sé attraverso il viaggio, vengono ridotte e con-
fuse in un inganno consapevole: tecnicamente il
soggetto inquadrato è sempre Niccolò Moronato,
mettendo così in luce un aspetto che si è portati
a pensare come improprio dell’immagine foto-
grafica, ovvero un certo grado di convenzionalità
interpretativa.

He proposes a new research inspired by the
possibilities of Deep Space Telescopes, reali-
zed with four hands with graphic artist Marcelo
Vendramel. A voice of an artificial intelligence,
duly instructed to be natural in its artificiali-
ty, reads the definition of pixels, replacing the
word with ‘person’. It scrolls images of distant
celestial bodies, downloaded directly from the
Kepler satellite. The video is obtained from the
miscellany of two distinct moments of image
processing. On the one hand, photographs, taken
from the direct restitution of the satellite lens,
decomposed in the form of large pixels in their
colors and components using amateur astro-
nomy software, varying the basic parameters
of research temperature and orientation. On the
other hand, animations that return the recording
process of the images filtered by the software.
Ephemeral aesthetic entities push the viewer
to deal with a form of stress of the processes
that institutionalize the experimental notion of
reality through the observable and the repea-
table, the cornerstones of the scientific method.
The same process of decomposition by magni-
fication is applied by the artist to the image
used to construct his identity, obtained by mul-
tiplying the shooting of details of his portrait
used as a mask in a photo booth. Attestation
of citizenship, possibility of driving, of moving
the self through the journey, are reduced and
confused in a conscious deception: technically
the subject framed is always Niccolò Morona-
to, thus bringing to light an aspect that one is
led to think of as improper of the photographic
image, namely a certain degree of interpretati-
ve conventionality.
