Pillows, pillows and more pillows
Use pillows as jewelry for a room. Give sofas, chairs
and beds a fresh look with this simple change.
Consider changing pillows with the seasons just
like you do with your wardrobe. Let them reflect
the colors of the current season.
In addition to changing out colors, bring in a
favorite new print to serve as your anchor. Don’t
be afraid to mix prints in a fun way to give the
room a punch. You can also experiment with fabric
textures. By mixing linens, silks, velvets and other
types of fabric, you can give a room an updated,
fresh look.
Art-ful éclat
A new or new-to-the-space artwork can give a
room a whole new attitude. Hang the piece on a
big wall for a bold statement, or place it in a corner
nook for an enchanting surprise. Even if everything
else stays the same, this one change can make a
big impact and give a room a conversation point.
Little touches
Whether you switch up existing ones or buy new,
changing up the accessories you display in a room
can shift its mood. For example, set out new coffee
table books with light-color cover art to help make
the living room seem brighter and more airy in
advance of springtime. Add freshness to any space
by placing objets d’art, some potted orchids, pre-
served boxwood balls in eye-catching containers
or even antique dough bowl filled with lemons on
tables, kitchen islands, consoles or shelves.
Color my world
If you’re tired of living in neutral, light spaces that
have been popular for so long, here’s great news:
Colors are once again a big trend for room décor.
Want a can’t-fail way to bring life to a neutral
space? Go green! Green velvet pillows add a viva-
cious pop of color on a white or neutral sofa, and
maybe toss out another pillow or two covered in a
fresh print with one or more shades of green as the
key color. A wooden dough bowl full of boxwood
greens is evocative of a tree with all its leaves
freshly unfurled. Add a coffee table book or two
with bright colors, and you’ve brought a spark of
life to any room.
You can take a room refresh to the next level
by rolling a fresh coat of paint onto the walls. Your
