Introduction
The Shoulder and Upper Limb Unit (SUL), based in Burjeel Hospital, is pleased to share our 2016 Outcomes Quality and Achievements Report.
SUL serves the Abu Dhabi Emirate and surrounding regions, providing surgical and non-surgical treatments for conditions and injuries of the
shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. SUL’s physicians are trained in all aspects of orthopedic surgery but have committed to the upper limb, allowing
them to provide highly sub-specialized care. Our goals are to consistently provide: 1) High quality care; 2) Efficient care; 3) A superior patient
experience. Each year, we attach objectives to these 3 goals. Results of our goals and 2016 objectives are delineated in this report.
This report is designed for both the public and for health care professionals. We are proud
to be part of the Abu Dhabi health care landscape and we believe that by being open and
transparent regarding our performance, we will hold ourselves to higher standards and the
public will benefit.
We sincerely hope that this report will find its way to people who may benefit from our services
and to all those involved in developing the ever-improving and maturing healthcare market
in Abu Dhabi.
As SUL continues to grow, we intend for these reports to demonstrate our outcomes and
initiatives and to continually improve our performance.
Why Publish a Report of Performance?
Measuring and sharing performance promotes quality. We cannot improve what we do not measure, and sharing these measures holds us
accountable to our patients and peers. We believe that our transparency also demonstrates confidence in our staff, clinical process, and our
multidisciplinary approach to both surgical and non-surgical care.
