6 Employment Policies
Overview
This section deals with various employment policies that provide the basic framework for employment with Erbe. It is by no means exhaustive and as always, Erbe maintains the right to amend or terminate any policy listed in the employee handbook. All interpretations of said policies are the sole responsibility of Human Resources and executive management.
6-1. Employment at Will
Employees of Erbe USA, Inc. are employed at-will and have the right to terminate employment, with or without notice, and for any reason, with or without cause at any time. Erbe also has the right to terminate employment, with or without notice, and for any lawful reason, at any time.
Executive positions covered by an employment agreement are governed by the terms and conditions of the employee's specific employment agreement. All other policies detailed in this handbook apply regardless of employment status or agreement.
6-2. Hours of Operation and Employee Work Hours
Erbe hours of operation are 8:30am – 5:00pm. During these hours, coverage is required in all departments as well as the receptionist desk. All employees deemed critical are available during these hours, for emergencies, regardless of schedule.
Employees responsible for business-critical areas need to work together with their supervisor/manager and co-workers to ensure that this level of coverage is maintained.
6-3. Flexible Work Arrangements
Decisions to allow flexible work arrangements are based on organizational needs, as well as individual work performance and job demands. No flexible work arrangements will be implemented that adversely affect operations of a department or its services to other departments or customers. The employee's quantity, quality and timeliness of work must be maintained under a flexible work arrangement.
Flexible work arrangements are not the right fit for all employees. Managers consult closely with Human Resources to determine if flexible work arrangements are appropriate.
If multiple employees in the same department are working a flexible schedule, it is important to coordinate schedules so that adequate coverage is provided.
Erbe places limits on this policy. Flexibility in work hours is possible within the following limits: Start of Workday 7:00am – 9:00am
End of Workday 4:00pm – 6:00pm
Schedule flexibility does not equate to arriving and leaving when an employee chooses. Typically, those allowed to work flexible hours, choose an agreed upon, set schedule which does not vary unless previously agreed to by the manager.
