Overview
Office Safety & Security
Erbe makes every effort to provide safe working conditions for all employees and guests. It is important to understand ways that employees can prevent injuries and hazardous situations while at work. All employees are expected to follow safe work practices and observe basic safety rules. Employees should report any unsafe or hazardous condition to their supervisor immediately. Most significantly, if an employee sees someone in the office or in the parking lot of Erbe that he or she does not recognize or appears to be acting in a strange manner, alert Human Resources and/or call 911 immediately.
8-1. Emergencies
In the event an emergency occurs, employees should become familiar with the following safety procedures:
 What the emergency procedures require employees to do;
 Whom to contact in the event of an emergency;
 The proper emergency exit routes in case of evacuation.
Erbe’s policies on emergency response are the best source for this information. If the situation requires it, employees should call 911 in the case of a life-threatening emergency. Please respond to all audible alarms by taking appropriate action, whether it is sheltering in place or vacating the building. All employees receive basic safety training during orientation.
8-2. Inclement Weather
Erbe’s priority is the safety of its employees, customers, and visitors. Should inclement weather occur during business hours, employees are instructed to follow established safety protocols as well as specific instructions provided by the management team.
Should severe weather conditions make it impossible to travel safely to work, employees should notify their manager as soon as it is safe to do so. Employees are required to use existing vacation balances for inclement weather absences where the office remains open.
There are times that may require the office to close due to inclement weather. Employees are notified of changes to open for business status through communications from their managers as well as a general message on the Erbe main phone line. When inclement weather is present, employees are requested to check the Erbe main phone line beginning at 6:00 am and periodically as necessary for the latest information on the status of the office opening and closing. Employees are paid for scheduled hours (up to a maximum of 8 hours) should Erbe deem it necessary to close the office for inclement weather.
