  8-8. Indoor Air Quality
All occupants of a building have a significant effect on indoor air quality. Everyday activities like heating food in a microwave and using the photocopier can generate odors and pollutants. By being aware of indoor air issues, occupants can help prevent problems. Here are a few tips on how employees can help in this manner:
Food/Cooking
Employees can help control offensive smells caused from heating foods by keeping the doors to the breakroom closed as well as avoiding cooking strong-smelling foods (i.e. microwave popcorn, fish or other seafood). For safety reasons, employee should not leave food unattended or overcook food. Employees should not allow coffee pots to remain empty on hot plates.
Personal Hygiene
Good personal hygiene is always a must as is wearing clothing that is clean and appropriate for the workplace. Employees should avoid wearing perfume or cologne, scented lotions and other perfumed products in consideration for their co-workers and customers and visitors.
8-9. Chemicals in the Workplace
Erbe has a comprehensive hazard communication program that includes an inventory of the chemicals to which employees potentially have exposure. Even though there is limited exposure to chemicals at Erbe, it is important to understand the potential hazards, if any, of the materials used at Erbe.
Erbe provides all employees access to specific chemical data sheets, otherwise known as Safety Data Sheets. These data sheets are provided by the manufacturer and supplement label instructions and warnings. These are provided to employees through an electronic system, access to which can be found on the Erbe Human Resources portal.
If used properly, the materials used in our offices present little exposure to employees. As with any material or product, misuse has the potential for injury or illness. This is true not only for the employee but others in the office as well. Employees should notify their manager if they have any questions concerning chemicals and their intended use.
Eyewash stations are located where chemicals are stored in the case of accidental exposure.
Any employee that violates safety protocols or uses a chemical for any reason other than its approved uses, will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
8-10. OfficeSecurity
Security is a shared responsibility among all employees and management. Regardless of the situation, employees should remain aware of their surroundings and should exercise caution when arriving and departing the building, preferably doing so in pairs. Erbe also provides armed security in the parking lot during typical arrival and departure times.
Secured Access
The Marietta office is a secured access building and unauthorized access is strictly prohibited. Suspicious activity should be reported to Erbe management immediately. Employees are provided a
