The Jews persecuted Jesus and wanted to kill him because he was doing these
things on the Sabbath
The Jews surrounded them and said to him how long do you vex our souls with
uncertainty? If you are the Christ tell us openly. Jesus answered saying, I have
told you but you do not believe.
Jesus said to them, my Father works even until now so I also work. The Jews
wanted the more to kill him because Jesus said concerning God that he was his
Father. He was making himself equal with God and He did works of healing
weakening the Sabbath
If I testify concerning myself my testimony is not true. It is another one who
testifies concerning me. I know that the testimony which he testifies concerning
me is true. You sent to John and he testified concerning the truth.
I do not receive any testimony from men. I tell you these things so that you may
be saved. You have never heard his voice nor seen his appearance and his word
does not abide in you because you do not believe in him whom he has sent.
Examine the scriptures in them you trust that you have eternal life. The scriptures
testify concerning me. You will not come to me that you might have life
everlasting. I do not receive any praise from men. I know you well that the love of
God is not in you. I have come in the name of my Father and you do not receive
me. If another should come in his own name you will receive him. How can you
believe when you accept praise one from another? The praise from God you do
not want? There was again a division among the Jews because of these sayings.
Many of them said he is insane and rambles. Why do you listen to him? Others
said these are not the words of a crazy man. Can a crazy man open the eyes of
the blind? Then the Jews again took up stones to stone him. Jesus said to them,
I have shown you many beneficial works from my Father. Which one of them do
you stone me? The Jews said to him, it is not because of the beneficial works we
stone you. You blaspheme. While you are only a man you make yourself God.
Jesus said to them, is it not so written in your law. I said you are gods? He called
them gods because the word of God was with them. Why to the one whom the
Father sanctified and sent to the world do you say you blaspheme. I say to you I
am the Son of God. They wanted again to seize him. His apostils gathered
around him and he stood in their midst. Many men came to him and said John
did not perform a single miracle. Everything which John said concerning this man
is true many believed in him. The Jews left and went to the High Priests.

Taught in the Temple

During the middle period of the feast, Jesus went up the Mount of Olives and
entered his temple all the people were coming to him. He sat down and taught
them saying my teaching is not my own but his who sent me. He who wills to do
