the people regarded him as a prophet. The High priests and Elders knew that he
spoke these parables against them. They left him and went away.
Soldiers Sent to Arrest Jesus
The Priests of the Pharisees heard the people talking about him. So they and the
high priests sent soldiers to arrest Him. The soldiers returned to the high priests.
The priests said to them why did you not bring him? The soldier said to them
never has a man spoken as this man speaks. The Pharisees said to them what!
Have you also been deceived? Have any of the leaders or of the Pharisees
believed in him except this cursed people who do not know the law?
Herod Hears of Jesus
Herod the king heard about Jesus. His name was known to him. At that time
Herod, the Tetrarch heard the news about Jesus. He said to his servants this
man is John the Baptist. He has risen from the dead. This is why great miracles
are done by him. He said, John the Baptist has raised from the dead. This is why
miracles are performed by him. Others said he is Elijah and yet others he is a
prophet just like one of the prophets. When Herod heard these words, he said, it
is John whom I beheaded. He has risen from the dead. In that very day, some of
the men of the Pharisees drew near and said to Jesus and his followers get out
and go away from here. Herod wants to kill you. Jesus said to them go and tell
that fox. I cast out evil men. I will heal today, tomorrow and on the third day I will
be finished. I must do my work today, tomorrow and I will leave the next day. It is
impossible that a prophet should perish from Jerusalem.
Destruction of Jerusalem
Jesus went out of the Synagogue to go away and his followers followed him to
the Mount of Olives. Some men were talking about the Synagogue that it was
adorned with beautiful stones and gift offerings. Jesus said these issues which
you see will be destroyed. They said to him Teacher look at those stones which
were used to build it and those buildings surrounding the Synagogue how they
are decorated. He said you have taken notice but I say unto you. You see these
great buildings the days are coming when not a stone shall be left here upon a
stone that shall be taken down and removed and the ground plowed under.
When Jesus entered his temple on the Mount of Olives and sat down Peter,
Andrew, James, John the Son of Thunder and his followers asked him when will
these issue be fulfilled and signs of warning that these issues are about to be
fulfilled. He stood up and looked toward Jerusalem and said, O Jerusalem,
