napkin. Jesus said to them loose him and let him go. Many of the Jews who had
come to Mary when they saw what Jesus had done believed in him. Other Jew
went and told the High Priests the wonder that they had seen and that Lazar who
was dead is now alive. Jesus then spoke to his followers who were with him. I
say to you that the Son can do nothing of his own accord except what he sees
the Father doing. The issues which the Father does the same the Son does
also. The Father loves his Son and he shows him everything that he does. He
will show him greater works than these so that you may marvel. Just as the
Father raises the dead and gives them life even so the Son gives life to those
whom he will. As the Father has life in himself even so he has given to the Son
also to have life in himself. I say to you the time is coming and it is now already
here when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God. Those who hear him
will live. Do not wonder at this. The time is coming when all those who are in their
graves will hear the Fathers voice. They will rise up and come out of Jerusalem.
Those who do beneficial works will rise to the resurrection of life. Jesus said he
who has come from above is above all and he testifies of what he has seen and
heard. He who accepts his testimony has set his seal that God is true. He who is
of the earth is of the earth and he speaks of earthly issues yet no man accepts
his testimony. He whom God has sent speaks the words of God. The Father
loves the Son and has placed everything under his hand. He who believes in the
Son has eternal life and he who does not obey the Son shall not see life but the
wrath of God shall remain on him.
The Jews went to the Pharisees and told them everything Jesus had done. So,
the high priests and the Pharisees gathered together and said what shall we do?
This man does many miracles. If we allow him to continue like this all men will
believe in him and the Romans will come and take over both our country and our
people. Caiaphas who was the high priest for that year said to them you know
nothing. It is much better for us that one man should die instead of the people
and not all the people perish. He did not say this of himself but because he was
the high priest for that year he spoke of what the prophets had said concerning
Jesus. He would die for the sake of the people not only for the sake of the
people but also to gather together the children of God who are scattered abroad.
From that very day on they decided to kill him.
Feast of Dedication
Now the Jewish feast of the Dedication was at hand. His brothers said to Jesus
depart from here and go to feast so that your followers may see the works that
you do. There is no man who does anything in secret and yet wants it to become
known. If you are doing these things show yourself to the people. Jesus said to
them my time has not yet come but your time is always here. The world cannot
hate you but it hates me because I testify against it that its works are evil. You go
up to this feast I am not going just now to this feast. My time is not yet come. He
