P. 100
Every scribe who is converted to the kingdom of God is like a man who is a
householder who brings out new and old issues from his heart.
He who wishes to follow me let him deny himself. Take up your cross and follow
me. Whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it. Whoever loses his life for my
sake shall find it. How will a man be benefited if he should gain the whole world
and lose his own soul?
Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
You who err know how to give beneficial gifts to your sons how much more will
your Father in heaven give beneficial issue to those who ask him? Whatever you
wish men to do. You do likewise to them. This is the law and the prophets.
Now then if your brother is at fault with you go and rebuke him alone. If he listens
to you then you have won your brother. If he will not listen to you take one or two
with you because at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word is
established. If he will not listen to them tell the congregation. If he will not listen to
the congregation then regard him a heathen and cast him out
Then Peter came up and said to him my Lord if my brother is at fault with me how
many times should I forgive him? Seven times! Jesus said to him I do not say to
you up to seven times but up to seventy times seventy-seven.
If you forgive men their faults your Father in heaven will also forgive you.
If you do not forgive men their faults your Father will not forgive even your faults?
The princes of the Gentiles are also their lords. Their officials rule over them. Let
not this be so among you. Whoever wishes to be great among you let him be a
minister to you. Whoever wishes to be first among you let him be a servant to
you. The Son of man did not come to be ministered to but to minister and to give
his life as a salvation for the sake of many.
You should not be called Master. One is your Teacher and all you are brethren.
Call no one on earth father. You have one Father in heaven. Nor be called
leaders one is your leader the Christ. He who is greatest among you let him be
your servant. Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled. Whoever humbles
himself shall be exalted.
There is no student who is more important than his teacher. Every man who is
well developed will be like his teacher.
Take heed to what you hear with what measure you measure it will be measured
to you again and will increase especially to them who hear.
He who is faithful with little is also faithful with much. He who is dishonest with
little is also dishonest with much.
He who is not with me is against me. He who does not gather with me will be cast
out.
