and live delicately are in kings’ houses. What did you go out to see a prophet?
Yes, I say to you and much more than a prophet. This is he of whom it is written.
I send my messenger before your face to prepare the way before you. I say to
you that there is no prophet among those who are born of women who is greater
than John the Baptist. The least person in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
The people who heard and saw with their own eyes the miracles performed on
the lame, blind, death atoned and believed even the tax collectors justified
themselves before God. They were baptized by John. The Pharisees and the
scribes suppressed the Will of God in themselves because they were not
baptized nor believed.
State Occasion
Herod on his birthday gave a banquet to his officials and captains and the leading
men of
Galilee. The daughter of Herodias entered and danced before the guests. She
pleased Herod and the guests who were with him. The king said to the girl asks
me whatever you wish and I will give it to you. He swore to her with oaths that he
would give her anything that she asked as much as half of his kingdom. She
went out and said to her mother what shall I ask him? She said to her the head of
John the Baptist. Straightway she entered before the king and his guests. She
was instructed by her mother what to say to him. She said I do wish in this very
hour that you give me right here on a tray the head of John the Baptist. The king
was exceedingly sorry but because of the oaths and the guests he did not wish to
refuse her. The king straightway sent the executioner commanding him to bring
the head of John on a tray. He went and beheaded John in the prison and
brought the head on a tray and gave it to the girl. The girl took the tray to her
mother.
When his disciples heard of it they came and took up his body and buried it in a
grave. The apostles gathered together to Jesus and told him everything they had
done and what they had taught. The disciples of John came and informed Jesus.
When Jesus heard, what happen to John he said to the apostle and followers let
us go to the Port at Tiberius and take a boat to the crossing place and rest awhile
in the wilderness.
Multitude Fed the Passover
A great many people followed him because they saw the miracles which he
performed on sick people. When they arrived at the port of Tiberius Jesus said to
the crowd that had followed I am the bread of life. He who comes to me shall
never hunger. He who believes in me shall never thirst.
