P. 19
FALSE OATH
Moses wrote: You shall not swear falsely in the name of the LORD your God; for
the LORD will not deem him sinless who swears falsely. You have heard it was
said to them who were before you, that you shall not lie in your adjurations, but
confide your words to the Lord.
Codicil. I say to you, never swear; neither by heaven, because it is God’s
mountain; nor by the earth, for it is a stool under his feet; neither shall you swear
by your own head, because you cannot create in it a single black or white hair.
Let your words be few, but straight and true, anything crooked or untrue leads to
deception.
SABBATH
Moses wrote: Remember the Sabbath day to preserve it sacred. Six days shall
you have tasks and do all your cultivation; But the seventh day is a Sabbath to
the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any task, you, nor your son, nor your
daughter, nor your manservant nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor the
sojourner who dwells among; in six days the Lord created heaven and earth, the
seas, and all things that are in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore
the Lord consecrated the Sabbath day and sanctified it.
Codicil. I say to you, that the Sabbath was created for man and not man for the
Sabbath. The Son of man is Lord of the Sabbath. It is not unlawful to do
uprightness on the Sabbaths, but lawful to do issues of uprightness on the
Sabbaths.
HONOR FATHER AND MOTHER
Moses said: Honor your father and your mother, that your days maybe in
abundance
Codicil. I say to you, I have not come to bring peace but a sword. I have issued
forth from the father to disunite a man from his father, and a daughter from her
mother, and a daughter-in-law from her mother-in-law. And a man’s antagonist
will be the members of his own household. Whoever loves father or mother to a
greater extent than me is not equal to me; and whoever loves son or daughter to
a greater extent more than me is not equal to me. Whoever does not take up his
cross and abide with me is not equal to me.
YOU SHALL NOT KILL
Moses said: You have heard that it was said to those who were before you, you
shall not kill, and whoever kills is guilty before the tribune.
