Codicil. I say to you, when your hands cause you to stumble cut them off in other
word stop stealing and steal no more.
Codicil. I say to you, anyone wishes to sue you at the court and take away your
shirt, let him have your robe also. Whoever compels you to carry burden for a
mile, go with him two. Whoever asks from you, give him; and whoever wishes to
borrow from you, do not refuse him.
YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS AGAINST YOUR NEIGHBOR
Moses said: You shall not bear false witness
Codicil. I say to you Defraud not.
I say to you while you pose oblation upon the Lords table, right there you
remember that you have an account against your brother. Leave your oblation
there upon the Lords table, and first go and reconcile with your brother, and then
come back and pose your oblation.
Try to get reconciled with the prosecutor promptly or he may convince the Judge
that you are guilty. The judge may commit you to the jailer and you will be placed
into a prison house. Truly I say to you, not at any time soon would you come out
until you have paid your account in full.
Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee, and the other a tax
collector. And the Pharisee stood by himself, and prayed thus: O God, I thank
you that I am not like the rest of men, extortionist, grafters, adulterers, and not
like this tax collector. But I fast twice a week, and I give tithes on everything I
earn. But the tax collector stood afar off, and he would not even lift up his eyes to
heaven, but smote his breast, saying, O God, be merciful to me a sinner. I say to
you that this tax collector went down to his house more righteous than the
Pharisee. Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled; and everyone who
humbles himself will be exalted.
COVET
Moses said: You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your
neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass,
nor anything that is your neighbor’s.
Codicil. I say to you, beware of all covetousness, because life does not depend
on abundance of wealth.
Codicil. The eye is the lamp of the body; if your eye is elucidated; your whole
body is also illuminated. But if you have an evil eye your whole body becomes
morally evil. If the iniquity that is in you is caused by immorality to a greater
extent is your blindness.
When you freely give food, clothing, money and other items to the poor do not
perform this task openly, but un-avowed heart to heart and your Father shall
abide by you.
