     1             CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION



                   Washoe County School District offers over 35 Career Technical Education (CTE) programs of study across all of its
                   comprehensive high schools that blend classroom instruction with hands-on work, leadership development, and career
                   exploration. These 3 and 4-year programs are certified by the Nevada Department of Education, and must maintain
                   rigorous standards in quality curriculum, staff expertise, industry-standard equipment, and alignment with the
                   workforce development needs of our local and regional economy. Students have opportunities to earn industry
                   certifications and college credit while developing workplace readiness skills and connections with local businesses and
                   organizations. Themed programs are offered in the following focus areas:
                      Agricultural Science & Natural Resources     Human Services

                      Business & Marketing                         Information Technology, Media & Communications

                      Engineering & Manufacturing                  International Baccalaureate

                      Global Studies                               Performing Arts

                      Health Sciences

                    WORK-BASED LEARNING
                    Washoe County School District also offers students a range of work-based learning opportunities, where students
                    can further acquire the soft skills and exposure to local industries that will help them to plan and start their careers.
                    Work-based learning includes authentic learning experiences such as industry tours, Q&A discussions with business
                    and educational representatives, and internships at job sites for academic credit.
