Career and technical student organiza ons (CTSO) are an integral part of career and technical educa on. All
students in a career pathway are encouraged to par cipate, beginning in 9th grade.
CTSOs help students develop character, ci zenship, leadership and technical skills essen al for success
a er high school. Par cipants engage in community service, leadership training/ac vi es, and compe ons
throughout the year.
WCSD supports five CTSO’s in various high schools:
Preparing students for success as leaders in our businesses, government and
communities.
Associated with CTE programs such as Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Graphic Design,
Marketing, Video
High Schools with active chapters: AACT, Damonte Ranch, Hug, Reed, Reno, Spanish Springs.
Developing skills for life -- planning, goal setting, problem solving,
decision-making and interpersonal communication -- necessary in the home and
workplace.
Associated with CTE programs such as Culinary, Education, Fashion, Foods & Nutrition,
Human Development
High Schools with active chapters: AACT, Damonte Ranch, McQueen, North Valleys, Spanish Springs, Sparks
Developing student potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success
through agricultural education.
Associated with CTE programs such as Ag Mechanics, Animal Science, Greenhouse Management,
Veterinary Science

Promoting career opportunities in the health care industry to enhance the
delivery of quality health care to all people.

Improving the quality of America’s workforce through a structured program of
citizenship, leadership, employability, technical and professional skills training.

Admission to these programs is open to all students enrolled in the Washoe County School District.
