Scissors as rain deterrent………………………

Date of Betu‟s marriage was approaching fast, but incessant

rains deterred all the arrangements. Entire Lucknow looked
submerged.

While we were deeply concerned, Master Didi came out with
an age old tested ritual. After performing some puja she
immersed a new scissors in the front lawn away from

anybody‟s sight as possible deterrent for rains.

Dawn broke with sunshine. Ritual worked and rain clouds

disappeared. All arrangements were made without any
interruptions and marriage solemnized happily.

I feel that it is belief and willingness that makes rituals work
by exploiting hidden power of nature. If you don‟t believe,
don't do it."
