7. NOTE 1 - HEIGHT COMPENSATION – SHIMMING PLATES
a. The system ships with a set of 4
aluminum plates that are used as
“shims”. Each shim is 5mm thick and
match the footprint of the Nivell
plates.
b. Start by measuring the height
difference between Nivell plates with
respect to the floor. If the difference if
greater than 5mm, consider adding
metal shims underneath the lowest Nivell plate. Each shimming plate adds/removes
approximately 5mm of height.
c. Keep in mind that at this point, this is still just a rough approximation, the fine tuning of height
and levelness will come later in the process. However, the closer we are now in height and
levelness the easier it will be to fine-tune the columns later.
IMPORTANT: Overall room floor levelness should be 2mm / m (0.024 in/ft).
Floor flatness of the gantry footprint should have a maximum of 5mm (0.20)
between highest and lowest points.
Try to use the least number of shims that gives you a height difference of
< 5mm.
