Dünyanýn en eski þehirlerinden biri olan Ýstanbul; Roma Ýmparatorluðu, Doðu Roma Ýmparatorluðu, Latin Ýmparator-
luðu ve son olarak da Osmanlý Ýmparatorluðu’na baþkentlik yapmýþtýr.
Avrupa’daki en yüksek nüfusa sahip þehirlerdendir. Ayrýca Asya ve Avrupa kýtalarý üzerinde topraklarý bulu-
nan tek þehirdir. Ýstanbul; medeniyetler, kültürler ve dinler açýsýndan da oldukça önemli bir þehirdir.
Üç büyük dini barýndýran Ýstanbul’da; Müslümanlar, Hristiyanlar ve Yahudiler kardeþçe yaþamaktadýrlar.
The city where the continents interconnect: Istanbul
Istanbul is one of the oldest cities in the world and served as the capital city for the Roman Empire, The Eastern
Roman Empire, the Latin Empire and finally the Ottoman Empire.
The city uniquely spreads over Asia and Europe, which means that it is historically and culturally important
for several different civilizations, cultures and religions.
In terms of population, it is one of the most crowded cities in Europe, with Muslims, christians and Jewish
people all peacefully living together in Istanbul.
Sultanahmet Meydaný: Ýstanbul’un en önemli
meydanlarýndan biridir. Bizans döneminde hipodrom
olarak kullanýlmýþtýr. Ayasofya, Sultanahmet Camii,
Yerebatan Sarnýcý, Dikilitaþ gibi önemli eserler
Sultanahmet Meydaný’ndadýr.
The Sultanahmet Square: This is one of the
most important squares in Istanbul. It was used as a
hippodrome during the Byzantine era. The Hagia
Sophia (Saint Sophia), The Blue Mosque, Basilica
Cistern and Obelisk are all on the Sultanahmet
Square.
Çýraðan Sarayý: 18. yüzyýlda 2.5 milyon altýn harcanarak yapýlan sa-
rayda çok kýymetli sanat eserleri bulunmaktadýr. Yapýmýnda kullanýlan mer-
merler, sedefler ve kristaller dünyanýn dört bir yanýndan toplanmýþtýr.
Çýraðan Palace: There are many valuable masterpieces in the Palace,
which was built during the 19th Century and would have cost a staggering
2.5 million in gold. The marbles, marquetry and crystals which were used
in the building of the Palace were collected from all over the world.
