dan Mýsýr’dan getirtilerek þimdiki yerine dikilmiþtir.

The Obelisk: Originally erected in front of the temple of Luxor in ancient Egypt by the
Pharaoh Thutmosis III in honor of Amon Ra (the Sun God), this ancient obelisk was brought
from Egypt by the Roman Emperor Theodosius I in 390 AD.

Galata Kulesi: Ýstanbul’un en önemli sembollerinden
biri olan Galata Kulesi; 528 yýlýnda fener kulesi olarak inþa
edilmiþtir.

The Galata Tower: The Galata Tower, which is one of the
most important symbols of Istanbul, was built as a light tower in
528 . Afterwards it was used as a fire tower.

Kýz Kulesi: Milattan Önce inþa edilen kule hakkýnda pek çok efsane vardýr. Bunlarýn en
meþhuru þöyledir: Rüyasýnda kýzýnýn bir yýlan tarafýndan sokulduðunu gören kral, kýzýný koru-
mak için denizin ortasýna bu kuleyi yaptýrýr.

The Maiden’s Tower: There are many tales about the Maiden's Tower, which was built in 408 BC.
The most famous one tells how the King, who dreams that his daughter is going to be bitten by a snake,
builds the tower in the middle of the sea to keep his daughter safe.

Kapalýçarþý: Kapalýçarþý, 1461 yýlýnda Fatih Sultan Mehmet tarafýndan
yaptýrýlmýþtýr. 4.000 civarýnda dükkâný ile Kapalýçarþý, Ýstanbul’un görülmesi
gereken, tarihî bir alýþveriþ merkezidir.

The Grand Bazaar: The Grand Bazaar was built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet in 1461.
It now holds approximately 4000 stores and is a historical shopping centre that is well
worth visiting.

Ýstiklal Caddesi: Ýstanbul’un en eski semtlerinden biri
olan Beyoðlu’nda yer almaktadýr. 19. yüzyýlýn sonlarýndan beri
Türkiye’nin en ünlü caddelerinden biridir. 1650 metre uzunlu-
ðundadýr.

Ýstiklal Avenue: Ýstiklal Avenue, which is 1650 meters long,
is located in the Beyoðlu district and is one of the most famous
avenues in Istanbul. The avenue is steeped in history and people
have been visiting it since the 19th Century.
