old cities and villages around Malta and sister island of Gozo, including the Silent
City of Mdina, one of Europe’s finest examples of an ancient walled city with an ex-
traordinary mix of Medieval and Baroque architecture, a city which until this very
day is still home to some of the oldest noble families on the Island.
Mdina,
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the City of Valletta, will be the backdrop of
the Conference and Symposium. Accommodation will be centered within and around
the City of Valletta for easy access. Strolling around the City as we make our way
to the main conference venue, one comes across many places of interest, from the
Grand Master’s Palace to Villa Rocca, to the Upper and Lower Barrakka Gardens, and
many, many others, each with its own charm and interest. Arriving at the main
venue, the Mediterranean Conference Center, which is found at the tip of the Penin-
sula overlooking the magnificent views of the natural harbour surrounded by the
three cities. The Conference Centre was built by the Knights Hospitalier of Malta, al-
so known as the Order of St. John, in 1574, as a hospital for all the injured Knights
th
and it remained one of the Leading Hospitals in Europe until the 18 Century. Now it
hosts one of our premier conference centers and can accommodate well over 2,500
attendees.

Of course, in line with our nature, we cannot but plan some amazing parties
for the delegates, where they can savor the fun and the most amazing fresh Medi-
terranean food we have to offer on the island. I do not want to give it all away, but
boy am I excited!!
During the recent visit to Malta by the ECC, led by EC Anu Viks and Secretary
Carmen Taheny where we discussed the program and venue, we also gave them a
taste of what is to come and to be experienced by the delegates when they join us
here in MALTA. Here is one of the comments we received from the EC Anu Viks:
“Thank you for the wonderful time we spent together and the program you arranged
for us. Really saw and experienced a lot. The Malta conference is in good hands”.
Here are some memories made during the visit and some of the locations that were
previewed by the ECC. These are but just a few of the places experienced!
My Team and I will continue to work hard at making the Conference and
Symposium, as well as your stay in Malta, a memorable one! Stay tuned!
We look forward to welcoming you all to the gem of the Mediterranean,
Malta!
