        & SELF- ESTEEM



          KEY MESSAGES:
            - You can have positive and healthy self- esteem.                 11
            - Using positive self- talk helps you feel better about yourself.
            - Respect for yourself and others is important in having a
            healthy life.


        Self- Esteem is the image and thoughts a person has about them-
        selves. Having positive self- esteem can help you have a healthy
        social life and less stress. Low self- esteem can make you feel sad
        and affect your physical and emotional health.

           TIPS
          •  You are in charge of your thoughts. When you are having
           a negative thought, it’s ok to say “stop!” and replace that
           thought with positive self- talk such as “I can do this!”
          •  Be proud of your accomplishments, ideas and opinions.

          •  Set goals and celebrate when you reach them.
          •  Do something for someone else. Volunteer or help some-
           one in need.
          •  Face your fears. Sometimes conquering a fear can make a
           person feel strong, powerful and on top of the world.
          •  Focus on the positive and be kind to yourself.
