GOAL SETTING &
        DECISION MAKING

            KEY MESSAGES:
            - A goal is something that you want to get to or what you
want to get done. Short-term goals will help me achieve my
            long-term goals.
            - It is important to set goals in all areas of wellness (physical,
            nutritional, social and emotional.
            - Short-term goals will help me achieve my long-term goals.

This is an OPTIONAL LESSON! Talk to your coach, parent,
or teammate if you want to know more about this topic.

        Short-Term Goal:
        a goal that you can
        achieve in a short time.
        Short- term goals can help
you reach a long-term goal. An example
of a short term goal is getting an A on
an exam. Long-Term Goal: a goal that you plan to reach over
a long time. An example of a long-term goal is becoming a
        teacher.

Some decisions are small choices like deciding what to wear
or what to eat for breakfast. Other are larger choices and may
affect other people. These are choices like whether to get in
a car with someone who has been drinking alcohol or how to
respond to hurtful comments. It is important for a person to
think through the decision and to do the right thing for them.
            TIPS
          • If it is an important decision, we think carefully about
what we want and both the positive AND negative
            options we have.
