Healthy Eating!
ChooseMyPlate.gov shows the different food
groups and how to create a well-balanced
meal on a meal plate. If you have a health
condition that affects what you can eat,
always follow instructions from your doctor,
healthcare provider and parent/guardian
about what foods are good for you to eat and
how much.
Fruits and Vegetables
• Eat fruits and vegetables everyday
• Fruits are the red area on ChooseMyPlate.

• Vegetables are the green area on
ChooseMyPlate.gov
• Try different kinds of fruits and vegetables
at your house with your family
• They are colorful and delicious
• They make a great snack
Grains
• This is the brown area of ChooseMyPlate.

• Bread, rice, and potatoes are examples of
grains
• Make half of the grains you eat whole
grains like whole wheat bread or brown
rice
Protein
• This is the purple area on ChooseMyPlate.

• Proteins are foods like meat, chicken,
turkey, fish, and beans
Dairy
• This is the blue area on ChooseMyPlate.
