Strong Bones!


      What are bones?
      •  Our body is made up of lots of bones that
          form our skeleton
      •  Bones hold up our body and help us move


      What is needed for strong bones?
      •  Calcium
      •  Vitamin D
      •  Doing activities that make your bones
          strong


      What are good sources of calcium?
      •  Milk
      •  Yogurt
      •  Cheese


      Why is vitamin D important?
      •  100% juice with calcium added to it
      •  Cereal with calcium added to it
      •  Vegetables like broccoli and spinach


      What are some other good sources of
      calcium if I can’t drink milk or have dairy
      products?
      •  Vitamin D helps your body get the calcium
          it needs from the foods you eat and drink
      •  Your body can get vitamin D from the sun,
          milk, some cereals and juices with vitamin
          D added to them


      What are some activities you might like
      that help keep your bones strong?
      •  Soccer
      •  Basketball
      •  Jumping rope
      •  Walking or running
      •  Dancing
      •  Hop scotch or hopping
      •  Jumping or skipping
