Moving and Playing to Be Strong!


      What is physical activity?
      •  Physical activity is “movement of the body
          that uses energy” (www.choosemyplate.gov)


      How do I get physical activity?
      •  There are lots of ways to get physical activity
          each and every day
      •  Some examples of physical activities you
          might like include:
          ○  Games where you are moving around and
              being active
          ○  Running or walking
          ○  Throwing, catching or kicking a ball
          ○  Playing tag
          ○  Skipping or jumping
          ○  Making an obstacle course and going
              through it
          ○  Listening to music and dancing
          ○  Riding a tricycle
          ○  Going to the park with your parent/
              guardian or your adult caregiver
          ○  Playing at school with your friends on the
              playground or in class
          ○  Be creative and come up with other fun
              games where you can be active and safe


      Why do you need physical activity?
       •  Physical activity is important to keep your
           body healthy
       •  It can help your bones stay strong
       •  It is good for your heart and your lungs
       •  It improves your motor skills
       •  Being active when you’re young will help
           develop good habits so you stay active
           when you’re older to help keep your body
           healthy
