Safety First!
Many activities that you participate in will require
that you follow safety rules to help prevent you
or someone else from getting hurt. We are going
to talk about some safety rules that you should
follow for a few activities. There will be other
rules for different activities that you do. Activities
should be fun and safe!
What are some things that keep you safe when
you are playing?
• You must be watched closely by an adult
(your parent/guardian, your adult caregiver,
your teacher or a responsible adult) who is
responsible for your care and safety
• You should always follow the rules that
are given to you for the activity you are
participating in
• You should wear the appropriate clothing,
equipment, and gear needed for the activity
you are participating in
○ This includes things like the right shoes,
helmets, pads, seat belts and life
jackets
• If you get hurt, like fall, bump your head, or
feel sick, make sure you tell the responsible
adult caring for you right away
• If you see another kid get hurt, like if they
fall, bump their head, or feel sick, tell the
responsible adult caring for you right away
Playgrounds
• Always follow the instructions and rules you
are given by the responsible adult caring for
you
• If any of the play set is broken or not working,
tell the responsible adult caring for you right
away and don’t play on that part of the play set
Riding a bike or scooter
• You may ride a bike with training wheels, a
tricycle, or a 3-wheel scooter; it is important to
be safe whichever one you like to ride
• You must have your parents/guardians
permission and have close adult supervision
by the responsible adult caring for you at all
times when riding
• Only ride in areas that your parent/guardian
says are safe for you to ride and stay out of the
street and away from cars
• ALWAYS wear a helmet when riding
○ Your parent/guardian should make
sure that your helmet is the right size
for your head and age 10
