REMEMBERING TYLER On the morning of July 1st, Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs

teammate was less than two weeks away from celebrating his 28th birthday...
Tyler was initially drafted by the Angels in the first round (40th pick) of the 2009
draft out of Santa Monica High School...He was traded by the Angels to the
Diamondbacks in 2010 before being reacquired by the Halos from Arizona in 2013...
Skaggs made his Major League debut with the D-backs on Aug. 22, 2012 and would
go on to amass a 28-38 record with a 4.41 ERA and 476 strikeouts in 96 starts...Tyler
leaves behind his wonderful wife, Carli...One of Skaggs’ favorite sayings, “We’re
nasty”, would become the team’s motto for the remainder of the season.
NASTY NO-NO On July 12 the Halos returned to Angel Stadium for the first time
since the passing of Tyler Skaggs...That evening, Angels pitchers Taylor Cole (2 IP) and Felix Peña (7 IP) would
pitch a combined no hitter vs. the Seattle Mariners...It marked the 11th official no-hitter in Angels history and
first since May 2, 2012 vs. Minnesota by Jered Weaver…Second official combined no-hitter in team history: Mark
Langston (7 IP) & Mike Witt (2 IP) April 11, 1990, also vs. Seattle and Jered Weaver (L; 6 IP) & Jose Arredondo (2 IP)

Ohtani, Pujols and Trout…Tied the franchise mark from the most players with at least 15 homers and first since
2009…The Club finished with 220 home runs, the second most in franchise history (236 HR in 2000).
