Tracy Rema Moore won the 1965

               PPA National Championship that

               was played in August in
               Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the

                 th
6 person to win the most sought-
               after title in the Professional
               Putters Association. He won by

one stroke over Ralph Sapp and
               Herman Strickland (Evelyn Florin’s

               father) – the next closest

               competitor was 9 strokes back.
But there is a bit more to this

victory that makes it one of the

               more compelling achievements in
               the history of the PPA.

In the 1962 National Championship, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he finished in a
                                   th
respectable 12 place of a field of over 100 participants, but not a
threat to the winner of the event, Paul Garrison. In 1963, he was the
                                                                    th
6th leading money winner and had the 6 lowest stroke average. He
                          rd
placed 3 in the Southern Open and was close to winning the 1963
                                                           rd
National Championship, placing 3 - behind winner John Spotts (Spotts
aced the next to last hole of the event to win). In 1964, Moore played a

limited schedule and managed to maintain a respectful performance.

                                                                                                      rd
However, at the start of the 1965 putting season, Moore had the 3
lowest lifetime stroke average – of which was based on at least 100

competitive rounds. He was close to winning a few times, yet his name

was not among the winners on the National Tour from 1960 – 1964.
