Red Course – Hole 6
After managing the previous hole with a firm putt, hole 6 requires a
delicate touch. From the tee mat, it is a 3-tier hole from all sides of the
hole – for that reason it is commonly called the “Birthday Cake” hole.
Players will play the hole from a variety of locations on the tee mat due
to two factors. The slight break on the top tier and the player’s stroke.
The first rise is located just a few inches from the tee mat, if hit directly
into the rise, the roll and speed of the ball will be quickly reduced. So,
to account for the initial hop of the ball, players will move the ball to
the back half of the tee matt to allow a smoother roll.
