Blue Course – Hole 17
One of the more demanding holes on the course and a closing hole for
the championship. Most players will play to the left of the obstacle, but
speed is the decision maker on this hole. Playing it firm takes out the
severe break due to the mound - but leaves a lengthy par putt if
missed. Playing it softly, leaves a short par putt, but reduces the
consistency of making the ace putt. Some players will opt to not
chance leaving the ball in an over-par location and play the ball safely
to the right rail below the hole, allowing for a safe par putt. However,
knowing how to play the hole for a one is crucial. It would not be wise
to have to need a one and not know about the slight break before the
mound with the hole-in-one putt.
