loser’s bracket.  Each match was 36 holes; however, the weather was

               perfect for an all-day event.  Randy Reeves was the representative in

               the winner’s bracket.  He got there by beating Harold Mikell, Jimmy
               Mott, Gary Hinshaw, Rick Culverhouse and

               Matt McCaslin.  He beat everyone

               convincingly…except Gary Hinshaw.  The
               determined Hinshaw forced Reeves to win

               the match in sudden death.  Reeves would
               face Nate Nichols in the final after Nichols

               defeated Varnadore in the finals of the loser’s                            Randy Reeves

               bracket.  Whether it was the long day, the
               nervousness of the finals, the expertise of

               Reeves or a combination of all the factors –

               Reeves won the match in another convincing
               manner, 9-up.


               The National Invitation remained with the match play format the

               following year, 2017, in Augusta, GA and provided just as much
                                                           excitement.   The weather was

                                                           perfect, and the field was comprised
                                                           of the best putters in the game.  Jeff

                                                           Spainhour had to work hard to win the

                                                           first match of the tournament, then
                                                           strolled to the finals.  Along the way

                                                           he defeated Dan Anders, Danny

                                                           McCaslin, John Bambling, Mike
                                                           Johnson, Kevin Lacey and local hero,

                                                           Frank Warren.  Warren defeated

                                                           Randy Reeves in the loser’s bracket
                                                           and would get a chance to revenge his

                                                           defeat an hour earlier.  However,
