Vince Batten – which also placed Batten in the lead with a 49 total. The

               blustery conditions remained during round three with 24 being the

               lowest score again – shot by Gilbert Sharpe and Thomas Rawles;
               however, Batten maintained a one stroke lead going into the final

               round of the day after shooting a 28. By the end of day one, the

               players were exhausted, and the scores reflected the tough conditions.
               Vince Batten maintained his lead with a total of 103 and held a two-

               stroke lead of two over Andy Coradini, Gilbert Sharpe, Bill Baus, Rick
               Rybaczek, and Jeff Smith. Lurking just a few more strokes back were

               Mike Brown and Lewis Burton. The most consistent player of the day

               was Bill Kirby – shooting rounds of 27,27,27 and 27.

               Sunday provided calmer weather, sunshine, and pleasant warmth – but

               more importantly, a soft breeze. The scores for the day were much

               lower – with the lowest scores reaching 21 and 22. However, the
               leader, Vince Batten, dropped to second place with a 26 while Gilbert

               Sharpe took the lead with a 23. Continuing to closely lurk was Mike

               Brown with a 23 – which put him two strokes out of the lead and Lewis
               Burton with a 24 – which put him three strokes away from the leader.

               Billy Kirby continued to play his consistent game with shooting another
               27 for round 5. Round 6 was the round of which the players started to

               separate. Burton and Brown set the pace with each shooting a 24 and

               Brown continued to maintain his lead over Burton by one stroke;
               however, he was now the leader of the tournament. Sharpe would

               finish his tournament with 27s the rest of the way, Baird placed himself

                    rd
               in 3 with a round of 25 and Coradini would slip to a 29 to remove
               himself from contention but made a valiant comeback with closing

               rounds of 23 and 24 to finish in third place. Billy Kirby would continue
                                                     th
               his consistent play with his 6 straight 27. Brown and Burton would
               start to pull away from the field in round 7 by shooting 23 and 24 – but

               Brown’s 23 gave him a two-stroke lead over Burton. Billy Kirby would
