that strategies that worked during one particular economic period might be
a recipe for disaster in a different economic period.
The question you may want to ask yourself is how long is long enough for
you to recover from a stock market crash, such as the one in 2008?
I hope you don't run out of time waiting for Wall Street's 84-year long-term
10% average stock market return.
Many people are not aware that there are extended periods of time when
the stock market has earned virtually a zero rate of return. The following
graph illustrates the cyclic nature of the stock market over 118 years.
