QUALITY OF PLACE
Faith & Fellowship
Van Buren’s reputation for
service mindedness is well-known
throughout the state, and for
good reason. It has earned the
prestigious “Volunteer Community
of the Year” designation from the
Arkansas Municipal League many
times over the 41-year history of
the award.
The honor is based largely on
overall citizen volunteer hours.
Many of the service hours are
logged by area civic groups, such
as Rotary, Lions Club, and Keep
Van Buren Beautiful, just to name
a few.
Having a place to gather, Congregants from Butterfield Church gather at the Community Rescue Mission for
worship and have fellowship with volunteer work. Photo courtesy Butterfield Church.
other believers is foundational for
many residents in the River Valley.
The Van Buren area provides
the opportunity to choose the
denomination and style that best
suits your needs.
Many denominations are
represented in Van Buren
and the surrounding region,
offering different worship styles,
congregation sizes, and in some
locations, multiple service times,
from which to choose.
In addition to corporate worship,
numerous churches operate
outreach programs including
preschools, vacation Bible schools,
food pantries, senior ministries,
and counseling. Many also support
missionary efforts across the
country and around the world. For
contact information and locations,
please check the directory in the
back of this magazine.
