LCC Director, Pat Powell. “They met
with Mayor Hurst to inform him of their
idea and see if it would be something
the City would support, then continued
with the necessary steps to make it a
      reality.”
Members of the team each took
      responsibility for providing the vision
and leadership to see the project
progress through the various design and
approval processes. Some of the work
was done by individual members of the
group, while other aspects required the
time and effort from all team members.
When the team was recognized at
the Annual Meeting, Misty Evans noted
the competitive nature of the group,
and their incentive to be a part of the Pat Powell, LCC Director with the LCC Special Project Team - Theresa Bell, Heather Hoffsommer,

“We wanted to show what could be
done if everyone teamed up to do
their part and see the project through,”
Evans said. “This is going to be a great
      addition to Van Buren.”
LCC requires a substantial amount of
time from the participants, who come
from a variety of business backgrounds,
but the special projects allow them to
      engage in teamwork and collaborate
on tasks that will lead to an improved
      community, according to Powell.
