In his second attack, Josue resorted to strategy. He sent  ve thousand men to lie in ambush back of the city. With another  ve thousand he approached the gates. As before, the soldiers of Hai rushed forth upon them, and the Israelites, pretending to  ee, tricked them into pursuing them far from the city walls.
