One day David's father sent him to the camp with food for his brothers, who were in the king's army. While he was there, G iath came out into the va ey between the camps and repeated his challenge. David made up his mind to ght Goliath. He told his broth ers, and they laughed at him. His oldest brother was angry, because he thought it was pride that led David to think he could kill Goliath.
S aul said to David, "Thou art not able to ght against this Philistine, for thou art but a boy, and he is a warrior from his youth." David answered Saul, ''I have killed a lion and a bear, and this Philistine
shall be as one of them. I will go and take away the reproach of the people.''
Saul said to David, "Go, and the Lord be with thee."
