One day David's father sent him to the camp with food for his brothers, who were in the king's army. While he was there, G iath came out into the va ey between the camps and repeated his challenge. David made up his mind to ght Goliath. He told his broth­ ers, and they laughed at him. His oldest brother was angry, because he thought it was pride that led David to think he could kill Goliath.
S aul said to David, "Thou art not able to ght against this Philistine, for thou art but a boy, and he is a warrior from his youth." David answered Saul, ''I have killed a lion and a bear, and this Philistine
shall be as one of them. I will go and take away the reproach of the people.''
Saul said to David, "Go, and the Lord be with thee."
