told him that these su erings were sent to him in pun. ishment of his wicked life.
But Job knew that he was innocent. His answer to his friends was this, "If I shall be judged, I know that I shall be found just. Even if God should kill me, I will trust in Him. I know that my Redeemer liveth and in the last day I shall rise out of the earth, and I shall be clothed again with my skin, and my  esh shall see my God.''
Job's   
 J  Ninive was the great city of the Assyrians. Its God inhabitants were Gentiles, and they were very wicked. One day the Lord spoke to Jonas, the prophet, saying,
'' Arise, and go to Ninive, the great city, and preach in it." But Jonas was afraid, and tried to  ee from the face of the Lord. He entered a ship which was bound for another city. But the Lord sent a great wind into the sea, and the ship was in danger of being destroyed. The men cried to their gods for help. The ship-master found Jonas fast asleep and said to Him, "Arise, and call upon thy God that we may not perish.'' But the storm continued. Then they cast lots to  nd out who was the cause of the evil that had come upon them. The lot fell upon Jonas. Jonas said, ''Cast me into the sea and the water will become calm for you, for J
Job pleased God by his patience in su ering. God showed that He was pleased with him by rewarding him even in this life. He restored his health. He doubled his wealth, and gave him seven sons and three daughters to take the place of those who were killed.
