Jesus, reading his thoughts, said to him, "Simon, I have something to say to thee.'' He said, ''Master, say it.'' Jesus said, ''A certain creditor had two debtors. The one owed him ve hundred pence; the other, fty. Neither of them had wherewith to pay, so he forgave them both. Which, thinkest thou, loved him most7'' Simon answered, ''I suppose the one to whom he forgave the most.'' Jesus said, ''Thou hast judged rightly.'' Then, turning to the woman, he said to Simon, ''Dost thou see this woman? I entered into thy house, and thou gavest Me no water for My feet. But she with her tears hath washed My feet and with her hair hath wiped them. Thou gavest Me no kiss, but she, since she came in, hath not ceased to kiss My feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint, but she with ointment hath anointed My feet. Wherefore, I say to thee, many sins are forgiven her because she hath loved much." Then He said to Mary, "Thy sins are forgiven thee."
All of those who sat at table began to say within themselves, ''Who is this that forgiveth sins also?'' But Jesus said to Mary, "Thy faith hath made thee whole. Go in peace."
From that moment, Mary Magdalen began to live len's a holy life. She joined a group of holy women who ly l e followed Jesus as He traveled through Galilee. Every
