The other apostles were very indignant at James and John for making a request like this. They ac cused them of trying to push themselves forward by unfair means, and of using their mother to do some thing for them that they were afraid to do themselves. A heated argument followed, and angry words were spoken.
But Jesus soon put an end to the dispute. He said, "You know that the princes of the Gentiles lord it over them, that the greater they are, the more power they exercise. It shall not be so among you, but who soever will be the greater among you, let him wait upon the rest. He that will be the rst among you shall be your servant, for the Son of Man is not come to be ministered unto, but to minister; to give His life in redemption for many.''

As they neared Sichem, the prin- ;:n:, cipal city of the Samaritans, the Savior sent some of ·Ze ee his disciples on before Him to nd lodgings for the night. But the Samaritans refused them hospitality, because they-were Jews on their way to Jerusalem.
The messengers came back and told Jesus. James and John, whom our Lord called the Sons of Thunder, became very angry. They said, '' Lord, wilt Thou that we comm d re to come down from heaven and burn them up.''
But Jesus rebuked them, saying, "You know not of what spirit you are; the Son of Man came not to
