Lazarus of Bethania was sick. His sister Mary The and Martha, sent a message to Jesus, saying, ''Lord, raising
of behold, he whom Thou lovest is sick." Now, in spite Lazarus
of the great love that Jesus had for Lazarus, and for Mary and Martha, ,his sisters, He did not go at once to Bethania; He stayed where He was for two days longer. His apostles wondered why He delayed so long, but nally He said to them, '' Lazarus, our friend, sleepeth, but I go that I may awake him out of sleep.'' The apostles said, "Lord, if he sleep, he shall get well.'' Then Jesus said to them plainly, ''Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not
there, that you may believe. But let us go to him." They set out for Bethania, and when they arrived there, they found that Lazarus had been in his grave four days. The house was crowded with friends of Mary and Martha, who had come to comfort them in the loss of their brother. Hearing that Jesus was coming, Martha went out to meet Him, but Mary sat at home. When Martha saw Jesus, she said, "Lord, if Thou hadst been here, my brother would not have died. Now, I know that whatever Thou wilt ask of
God, God will give it to me." Jesus said to her, "Thy brother shall rise again." Martha said, "I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection of the last day.'' Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He that believeth in Me, although he be dead, shall live. And everyone that liveth and believeth in Me
