One day it c e to rest on a mountain. At rst, Noe disapĀ could see nothing from the window but water. After a time, he saw the tops of some mountains, and then
he knew that the water was going down. He waited forty days longer and then sent out a raven and a dove.
The dove returned because it could not nd a place to rest. A week later he sent forth a second dove. This time the dove returned carrying in its beak an olive branch with green leaves. A week later, he sent it forth again, and this time, it did not return. Noe knew then that the ood was over. After seven weeks God spoke to Noe again. He said, "Go out of the ark with thy wife and thy sons and their wives and all the animals that are with thee in the ar ''
Noe left the ark, grateful to God for havi saved N 's him and his family from the ood. He built an altar
to God and o ered upon it many fowl and cattle. God
was pleased with the sacri ce of Noe, and promised
him never more to destroy the earth by the waters of a ood. God set the rainbow in the sky as a sign of the promise He had made to reward the faithfulness of Noe.
God blessed Noe and his sons and told them that the earth, with all that it contained, was theirs. They beĀ gan to till the soil, and to plant vineyards, and to live as they had lived before they entered the ark.
